Muck

Muck is good, muck is great

Muck sticks to the prongs on my rake

Muck can be green, muck can be brown

Muck makes a wet, sucking sound

Muck is not mud, muck is not clay

Muck is not feces lodged in old hay

Muck is not sand, muck is not trash

Muck is not shavings, old food or grass

Muck is a combination of all of these things

That’s what makes muck such a wonderful thing

Muck builds muscle, strengthens sinew and bone

Muck can be enjoyed in groups or alone

Muck can be dark and can be light

Muck fills my days and fills my nights

Muck sticks to frogs

and sticks to shoes

Muck coats a log

and coats a shrew

Muck oozes and drips

Clings and it sticks

Muck clumps up and glops

It falls in big drops

Muck grows algae and mold

But never grows old

Muck fills the tires on trucks

Muck only cares about muck

And if I have any ponderous luck

I will live my life surrounded by muck.

To become truly immortal, a work of art must escape all human limits: logic and common sense will only interfere. But once these barriers are broken, it will enter the realms of childhood visions and dreams. ::: Giorgio de Chirico :::
