These are the voyages of the Camera Beatrice. Her mission - to explore strange new focus points. To seek out new life and new custom settings. To boldly go where I have never been before.

Beatrice's Log - a study of a 7D and her actuation count...

Here it is - my first picture with my new Canon 7D. It came in the mail today, I charged the battery and on a rainy July afternoon I started to get to know my new camera...who shall henceforth be known as Beatrice.

I started with my back yard. Here are the first 100-ish photos.

0001 - My boy Duncan practically glowing in the cloudy, color saturated afternoon light.

Duncan, inside lighting. He's not sure about the new camera.

Yup, the flash works.

Yay for Depth of Field. See how Sylvie's face is in focus but the rest isn't?

My Little Ponies and some snail ornaments. Nice, saturated colors. I'm still working a narrow depth of field.

You can REALLY see depth of field here. Only her nose and a narrow slice of her paws are in focus. Also, Daphne's not sure about the flash.
All in all a good first little outing. I don't have my UV filters for my lenses so I didn't venture too far from the house today. Soon I'll have all of the accoutrements and we can see what this new girl can really do. I'm excited. It's a new adventure...leading to my making a video for AAZK by the end of this year. But so many other adventures to go on first. I have a new camera and am itching to use it...want to be a subject and let me work on my portrait, candid, action or low light photography? Just let me know!

I'm a zoo keeper. I currently work with Rhinos and it is awesome.

These are my random observations about the world...and I do mean random.  I write about what catches my interest and my imagination.

Just as a note: There is the possibility of the occasional curse word. I will not overuse - but those words have power when carefully placed.

To become truly immortal, a work of art must escape all human limits: logic and common sense will only interfere. But once these barriers are broken, it will enter the realms of childhood visions and dreams. ::: Giorgio de Chirico :::
